SAUT D'EAU
Every July, Haitians flock to the voodoo festival of Saut d'Eau to be blessed in the sacred waterfall. July 2010 was no exception, dispite the devastating earthquake that left more than a million homeless.
At Saut D'Eau, personal space is limited. Believers pray aloud, allowing the world around them hear and see. Signs of celebration hang over streets. In times of rest, tension is just under the surface. Fights break out in sacred places. But, tradition and ritual are paramount.
